The Issues, and Things I Care About

Roy is home for me and my family, and I care deeply about this city and the people who live here. I’ve spent time volunteering throughout our community because I truly want to see every part of Roy thrive. Along the way, I’ve met some of the very best people, neighbors who inspire me with their kindness and commitment. I want all our citizens to enjoy a good quality of life, to feel supported and connected, and for our youth to grow into strong, capable individuals who are proud to call Roy home. These are just a few of the goals I believe we can achieve together, and my ideas of how we might get there. Do you have questions about other topics? Let me know!

Residents facing economic barriers

Through my volunteer work in local schools, I’ve seen firsthand how many families in our city face financial challenges. While the city has limits on the direct aid it can provide, I believe we can still make a meaningful impact. By partnering with churches, schools, food pantries, and other organizations, we can increase awareness of available resources and support community-driven efforts like clothing swaps, sports equipment exchanges, and more. I’d love to see our community come together even more to lift one another during difficult times. I will always be open to these types of ideas and potential partnerships.

Shop and Support Local

I want Roy to be a place where local businesses thrive and feel truly valued by both the community and city leaders. That means attracting new businesses and supporting the ones we already have. One idea I’m excited about is starting a monthly meet-and-greet for local business owners. It is an opportunity for them to connect with each other, and with city leadership. It’s a small step toward what we need and want in Roy, but we have to start somewhere and build trust. When we build relationships and listen to each other’s ideas and concerns, we create a stronger, more business friendly Roy that reflects the needs and hopes of our residents.

Support and Honor Tradition

Roy has meaningful traditions such as Roy Days, flag raisings and retirements, city service projects, concerts in the park, and school events that bring our community together. I am committed to preserving these cherished traditions and open to exploring new ideas for additional meaningful customs. I believe traditions strengthen our community, provide reasons to celebrate, and inspire future generations of Roy citizens.

Taxes

I’m committed to helping Roy find alternative sources of revenue beyond raising taxes. Like many cities around us, we’re facing serious financial challenges, and there are no easy answers. But I believe a viable path forward is possible through hard work and collaboration. It will take a City Council willing to face reality, work together, and pursue practical, realistic solutions for the good of our community. That’s why, when voting for City Council, choosing candidates who can collaborate effectively will be more important than ever.

Development

I support smart, balanced development that strengthens Roy while preserving the character and feel of our community. Growth is necessary, but it must be thoughtful and well-managed. Having served on the Planning Commission, I understand how complex the development process can be. It involves property owners, city codes, state laws, and many steps that each project must navigate. I believe in protecting property rights and see our General Plan as a valuable guide for shaping responsible growth.

Development should reflect the values and needs of our residents, promote long-term sustainability, and create opportunities for families, seniors, and young professionals to live and thrive here. I’d especially love to see positive, well-planned growth in our downtown area that attracts businesses and benefits the entire city. I’m not afraid of growth, but I deeply value the strong sense of community we have in Roy, and I absolutely believe we can grow while keeping that spirit intact.
