Longtime Roy Resident Janel Hulbert Announces Candidacy for City Council

Roy, UT — [June 6, 2025] — Janel Hulbert, a dedicated community advocate and mother of four, has announced her candidacy for Roy City Council. With 15 years of residency and deep local involvement, Hulbert aims to preserve Roy’s hometown spirit while guiding the city toward a smart and inclusive future.

Raised in rural Parma, Idaho, Hulbert’s roots are grounded in hard work and community service. After moving to Roy with her husband and children, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including PTSA President at Sand Ridge Junior High, member of the Roy Business Advisory Board and Planning Commission, and a leader with Scouting America.

As an adult, Janel’s desire to become civically engaged grew after successfully working with her local state representative to address a challenge that was affecting her family. “That experience showed me how one person truly can make a difference if they are engaged,” she said.

“‘Honoring the Past, Planning for the Future’ isn’t just a slogan, it reflects my values and my vision for Roy,” Hulbert said. “I want to protect the hometown feel that makes Roy special while making smart, future thinking decisions that support working families, aging residents, and the next generation of young professionals.”

Following a recent City Council work session, Hulbert acknowledged that Roy faces some difficult issues, but expressed cautious optimism. “Roy has incredible people, and because of that I believe in our city's future.”
